ALZHEIMER’S SUPPORT GROUP MEETING Thursday, Sept. 9, the Salem United Methodist Church, 801 E Scenic Rivers Blvd, in affiliation with the Southwest Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association will host a support group meeting at the church beginning at 2 p.m. Anyone who is a family member, friend, or caregiver to someone suffering from Alzheimer’s Disease is welcome to come and learn more about the disease, care options, and experience mutual support from others dealing with the devastating disease. TEXAS COUNTY DEMOCRATS Texas County Democrats will be having a ham and bean supper for the public Tuesday evening, Sept. 21 at the Houston Senior Citizens’ Center on Grand Avenue in Houston. Dinner will be at 6 p.m. and former Senator Jean Carnahan will speak at 7 p.m. The dinner will consist of ham and beans, fried potatoes, corn bread, coleslaw, desserts and drinks. There will be a charge at the door. There will also be an auction of donated items after the speaker.
